How long have you been tattooing professionally? 26 years in professional studios and 23 piercing professionally. What inspired you into the art of tattooing? “Curiosity killed the cat.” Since I as long as I can remember, I was always pulled by the mystery, and the taboo, of tattooing and tattooed people. (Yes, while growing up in the 80’s people with tattoos were stigmatized and discriminated against). At age 12 I went to a school field trip with a fake tattoo on my right arm and it lit up the spark just looking at reactions around me and by age 15 urban cultures (hip hop, punk, hardcore punk, trash metal and electronic music) already took over my head and I tried tattooing for the first time with a homemade machine. Back then there was no eBay, Amazon or any accessibility to any professional tattoo equipment. Eventually, I was able to find professional equipment and get good enough to get hired by a shop and haven’t stopped ever since. Tell us about your preferred style of work. American traditional, Japanese traditional, neo traditional, new school and/or anything with color. What other styles are you known for? I would say black and gray, some realism and tribal. What inspires you as an artist? Myself, my family, and customer satisfaction. Seeing the reaction of a happy customer keeps me going. Why should someone pick you for their next tattoo/to be their artist? With my knowledge and experience I’m sure I can give the customer what they’re looking for and also exceed their expectations. |
