What inspired you into the art of tattooing? Hi, I’m Kay! I’m 27 years old and I’ve been professionally tattooing for nearly six years, though art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. With the support of my family, the owners of Ink Couture Tattoos, I was able to build a strong foundation in tattooing early on and turn my passion into a career. What is your preferred style of tattooing? My work is inspired by nature, culture, and alternative genres. I specialize in fine line, blackwork, stippling, neotraditional, and watercolor realism. While I enjoy exploring many styles, blackwork is my absolute favorite for its boldness, depth, and expression. What inspires you as an artist? Outside of tattooing, I draw inspiration from nature, travel, and a wide range of creative interests. I enjoy music of all genres, hiking, and foraging for natural curiosities. I also love playing video games and spending time with my two cats, Sprite and JiJi. (a nod to my love of Studio Ghibli films). These passions, exploration, discovery, and finding beauty in the unusual, often influence the art I create and the way I collaborate with clients. Why should someone pick you for their next tattoo/to be their artist? More than anything, I pride myself on professionalism and on creating a safe, welcoming space for my clients. Tattooing, to me, isn’t just about making something beautiful, it’s about collaboration, self-expression, and creating art that feels deeply personal and lasting. Anything else you'd like prospective clients to know about you?My home shop is located in San Marcos, but upon request I also guest spot in Austin on Mondays and Tuesdays, and I’m available for guest sessions in San Antonio any day of the week. |
